Requirements for registering a .gov.ng domain name

.gov.ng is a subset of the .ng domain name system and is specifically meant to be used by the various tiers of government in Nigeria, and their respective agencies.

.gov.ng is a closed domain extension and is strictly moderated by the .ng registry. To this end, some specific requirements and guidelines must be met and followed, for a .gov.ng domain registration application to be approved.

 

Guidelines

The following are to register for .gov.ng:

The Federal government
Any of the 36 State governments
Federal Ministries, Departments, Parastatals and Institutions

Examples: firs.gov.ng, finance.gov.ng, lagos.gov.ng, nigeria.gov.ng, nafdac.gov.ng etc.

Requirements

The applicant must present a Letter of Authorization (LOA) from the entity registering the domain name, addressed to:

Nigeria Internet Registration Association,
9 Kofo Abayomi Street,
Victoria Island,
Lagos


The Letter must be on the official letterhead of the government entity and must include the following:

Technical Contact Details
Name of Authorizing personnel
Telephone number
Email Address
Official Position

 Admin Contac Details
 Name of Authorizing personnel
Telephone number
Email Address
Official Position

The letter needs to be scanned and emailed to support@tucana.ng as an attachment in GIF, PNG, JPEG, JPG, or PDF format. The domain application will be verified directly with the entity applying for the domain.
